National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the presidency of undue interference in the Judiciary, Legislature and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which it said was unacceptable. The PDP accused the presidency of using the Department of State Service, DSS to influence election petition tribunal and court rulings in favour of the APC.

The Federal Government has instituted a four-count criminal charge against the erstwhile Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja. The Justice Danladi Umar-led tribunal has fixed November 9 to take the plea of the former Minister who is facing charges bordering on false declaration of assets and his alleged acceptance of bribe to the tune of about N70million.

Nnamdi Kanu Director of pirate radio, Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was on Saturday, reportedly arrested by Nigeria secret police, the Department of State Services (DSS). Kanu, who is also acclaimed to be the Director of Biafra Television and the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was said to have been arrested in Lagos, yesterday.

Three female suicide bombers on Friday, attacked the Umarari Bayan Waya area of Mulai Village in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital with Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), leaving at least seven people feared killed and 17 others injured. The blast was reported to have occurred around a few minutes past 5am when Muslim faithful were getting ready for the early morning prayer, reports Channels TV.

BUKOLA SARAKI The national leader of the ruling APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has issued a statement regarding the reported feud between him, President Muhammadu Buhari and the Senate president Bukola Saraki. On Saturday, the presidency had issued a statement of its own denying the reported feud between Buhari and Tinubu. A national newspaper had gone to town with the story that Tinubu is conspiring against president Buhari because his ministerial choices were not taken on board.

Senator Ighoyota Amori (PDP), Delta Central Senatorial District says it is inexcusable that President Muhammadu Buhari has not achieved anything since his administration. According to the Senator, the President had wasted most of his time on probes. The National Institute of Legislative Studies, NILS, apparently worried by growing public outcry against the Nigerian lawmakers, on Friday released a set of documents, showing what constitutes the earnings of the 109 Senators and 360 members of the Nigerian House of Representatives.

There were strong indications weekend that many of the 200 girls of the Government Secondary School, Chibok abducted in April 2014, are alive and holed up in the Lake Chad region of the North-East epicentre of the battle to dislodge Boko Haram terrorists from Nigeria. Sources disclosed to Saturday Vanguard that the girls who were relocated from the initial Sambisa Camps of the terrorists, following unrelenting bombardments by air and land operations, have been relocated to Lake Chad area with some of the girls spread along border communities.

President Buhari exchanging compliments with UK chief of defence staff Gen SIr Nicholas Houghton and British High Commissioner H.E. Mr Paul Akwright shortly after he received in audience UK Chief of Defence Staff and his delegation in Statehouse. President Muhammadu Buhari said Thursday in Abuja that significant improvements in national security remains the topmost priority of his administration because other socio-economic initiatives cannot be successfully implemented without adequate security in the country. Speaking at an audience with Britain's Chief of Defence Staff, General Sir Nicholas Houghton, President Buhari reaffirmed his administration's determination to end the Boko Haram insurgency as quickly as possible.

Fayemi and Fayose Ekiti state Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has directed lawmakers representing the state at the National Assembly to support the nomination of former Governor Kayode Fayemi during his screening by the Senate next Tuesday.

Prior to Tuesday’s commencement of screening, Senate, yesterday, raised hurdles that ministerial nominees must scale to be cleared for appointment. The Senate, which said that the screening will be guided by the 1999 Constitution and the Senate Standing Orders 2015, as Amended, directed all nominees to submit 115 copies of their resume each to the Senate, on or before Monday. This is coming as the nominees stormed the Police headquarters, Abuja, for profiling, yesterday.

Omar Pettigen reportedly told police he murdered his mum, Nailah Pettigen, after an argument and sliced open her chest before removing her heart with his bare hands. Omar, 31, was arrested five days after he murdered his own mother in cold blood. The incident happened in Fremont, California. He confessed that he masturbated after mutilating the body of his mother.

COL. HAMEED ALI (rtd) The comptroller-general of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), has ordered the immediate removal of rice from import restriction list and the re-introduction of import duty payment at land borders. The public relations officer of Customs, Mr Wale Adeniyi, who made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, said that the restriction was only applied at land border stations before now, adding that the customs boss had lifted restriction on rice at border stations.

Rivers State Commission of Inquiry on the Sale of Valued Assets  set  up by Governor  Nyesom Wike,  yesterday, submitted its report, claiming that N53 billion belonging to the state was allegedly diverted by the previous administration.

Members of Fifa’s ethics committee have suspended it’s president Sepp Blatter for 90 days.
