Justice Ahmed Mohammed, of the Federal High Court, Abuja, who heard Senate President Bukola Saraki’s ex parte application to stop the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), has withdrawn from the case. Justice Mohammed who on Wednesday, remitted Saraki’s case to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mahmud Mohammed, for reassigning to another judge, cited “negative reports” on the case as informing his decision. Recall that Saraki late on September 17 had approached Mohammed to give an order halting his trial by the CCT for alleged corruption and false declaration of assets.

Bukola Saraki, Ita Enang ana Chief of Staff. JONATHAN, DICKSON AND FAYOSE The Chairman of PDP National Electoral Panel and Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, in Bayelsa State yesterday described Dr. Goodluck Jonathan former President’s participation in the primary election in the state as a “home coming”. Nigerian police. Saudi Arabia's King Salman has ordered a safety review for the Hajj pilgrimage after at least 717 people died in a stampede near the holy city of Mecca. Another 863 people were injured in the incident at Mina, which occurred as two million pilgrims were taking part in the Hajj's last major rite. ACCORDING TO BBC, It is the deadliest incident to occur during the pilgrimage in 25 years.

BOKO HARAM COMMANDER The Nigerian Army disclosed on Wednesday that the Special Forces prosecuting the war on terror have arrested a Boko Haram Commander, one Bulama Modu, long wanted by security agencies and also 241 hostages particularly women and children were rescued after an operation. A statement in this regard signed by Col. Sani Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, recalled that on Wednesday, advancing troops along Banki axis were making tremendous progress during which they cleared two Boko Haram terrorists’ camps at Jangurori and Bulatori villages.

Sule Lamido The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, re-arraigned the ex-governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido and his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. The erstwhile governor, who on July 14, regained his freedom from prison where he spent five days with his sons, entered fresh plea to an amended 27-count criminal charge against him by the anti-graft agency.

Governor, Nasri Elrufai Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai on Tuesday ordered the immediate SHUT DOWN of two churches, a seminary, a hospital and secondary school all in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area of the state. El-Rufai said the closure became necessary so as to avoid the eruption of violence among factions of the congregations whose leaderships’ positions he stressed is, “principally to preserve their personal interests with little concern for the common good, and the peace and security of Kaduna State.”
