IMO SPEAKER, ACHO IHIM DETERMINED TO LEAVE A LEGACY.
| IMO SPEAKER, ACHO IHIM |
The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim has vowed to use his position to uplift and advance the lives of Imolites by ensuring that basic infrastructure that will transform and enhance the development of the society is put in place.

He made the disclosure at the headquarters of Okigwe Local Government Council recently when he held an inaugural meeting with the management committee of the LGA and the taskforce charged with the responsibility of completing all on-going projects as well as re-activating abandoned ones. One of the abandoned projects that attracted the attention of the Hon. Speaker was the Imo Hotels Ltd. Okigwe.
He also revealed that all illegal and makeshift structures in the area will be bulldozed down especially the Garki area along Enugu-Port-Harcourt Expressway where miscreants have been causing havoc.
Speaker Ihim charged the Chairman of the Hausa Community in the area, Alhaji Biu to advise his people to relocate before the demolition.
The Honourable Speaker said it is impracticable for Okigwe to assume its emerging metropolitan status with “Abakpa” market and Eke – Okigwe in its very center whereas similar markets such as Eke Onunwa in Owerri and those in other parts of the state are being relocated, hence the exigency of relocating the obstructing markets.
He stated that the indiscriminate parking of big Lorries and loading of passengers in unauthorized places in Okigwe LGA will go simultaneously with the phasing out of Abakpa market, Senegal and Eke Okigwe.
He gave an indication of the state government’s preparedness to develop Eke – Ukwu Ihube market, Ezinnachi market and gave an assurance that Owelle Rochas Okorocha – led administration was interested in workers’ welfare provided that the workers play their own part by being punctual to duties, shun lateness to work, avoid leaving their offices before the official dismissal time and abstain from absenteeism.
