ROCHAS: A TRAITOR IN APC.

Rochas Okorocha.

The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East, Osita Okechukwu, has tackled the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, for the governor’s statements on President Muhammadu Buhari’s exclusion of Ndigbo in appointments made by the President. Okechukwu was reacting to an interview granted by Okorocha to a national daily yesterday.

He told the governor that he (Okorocha), contributed to the abysmal performance of the APC in the South-East, particularly in Imo State by not fully supporting and campaigning for President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement yesterday, the APC spokesman said Okorocha should take responsibility for Igbo exclusion in the appointments, rather than pass the buck to Ndigbo. He maintained that Okorocha neither truly campaigned for President Buhari nor for the party, the APC. Okechukwu said:

“I am sorry to comment on the blame game being played by Governor Rochas Okorocha as his interview can be classified as Okorocha Rescue Mission from the less than five percent score in the 2015 presidential election from the entire South-East. “All one can say is that to the best of my knowledge, he neither truly campaigned for President Muhammadu Buhari nor the All Progressives Congress.

“I think while we blame Ndigbo for putting all our eggs in one basket, we should blame our leaders, who genuinely didn’t campaign for President Buhari nor APC candidates in their domain. “I challenge Governor Okorocha to tell the world how far he assisted Senator Osita Izunaso in his bid for Orlu senatorial district, his own constituency and that of Hons. Uche Onyeaguocha and Uwajimogu of Owerri and Okigwe districts respectively.” While noting that a little assistance from Governor Okorocha could have earned APC two senatorial seats, and other legislative seats, Okechukwu made it clear that there was no point blaming Ndigbo without blaming himself first.
